. . . help? every time i connect it to the plug thingy, it makes that sound but it doesn't show up in itunes and i can't sync any songs on it if it doesn't show up on itunes.

I don't think there's anything you can do. Mine did that, too, a while ago, and after half a year I gave up and bought a new one. Then the old one started working again =(...So, just wait and try it again, I guess...
